Infant Massage
Massage is indicated for most newborns and may be Swedish-type massage, Craniosacral therapy, or energy work. It can be used to address various disorders such as colic, sucking problems, birth trauma, gastrointestinal problems, etc. Massage has been shown to hasten the growth of premature babies, shorten hospital stays and lower cortisol levels in infants under distress. Depending on your baby’s situation, you may be asked to obtain a release from your baby’s physician to allow consultation and treatment.
Infant Massage Education
Massage can play an important part in the bonding between parent and child. We encourage parents to learn to massage their own babies and make massage a regular part of their growth and development. Parents can learn relaxation massage as well as colic massage for children with gastrointestinal distress.
