Utah Prenatal Massage…love your baby

Monica Faux-Kota, L.M.T. - Testimonials

I’m about to enter my ninth month of pregnancy with my second child. Monica has been my massage therapist throughout this pregnancy and her intuitive, healing hands have helped me with the many discomforts of pregnancy. She brings an intense, healing energy into her massages. There are moments when I feel the heat and energy of her hands penetrating deep into my muscles and I think, “How is she doing that?” She gives an incredible, intuitive, healing massage.

Going into my second pregnancy, I knew there were some changes I wanted to make in my experience. I wanted to continue to do prenatal yoga, but I also wanted to include prenatal massage in preparation for my delivery. I was lucky enough to have found Monica to work with me as my prenatal massage therapist and also during my labor and delivery. I started going to Monica for prenatal massages when I was 14 weeks pregnant. The decreased muscle tension and reduction of stress I found allowed me to be more relaxed and confident during this pregnancy. I saw Monica every other week and then every week during the last month of my pregnancy. It was a wonderful experience that I have enjoyed very much and feel it has done my body and mind a great service. I continue to see Monica, now postpartum, twice a month for continued support, healing and relaxation.

I have been going to Monica for massages since around the 4th month. I had been experiencing severe back, hip, neck, back and shoulder pain. I started doing yoga at the suggestion of a few books I have read and they also talked about massage. I am so lucky that I found this website! Monica has an amazing sense of pressure and can work on the sciatic nerves in the hip joints without the usual “zinging” I get any other time I get a massage. She has quite literally saved my life from bed rest! She has an amazing knack for working out what is hurting even if you have no idea really where you are hurting.

I was up all night one night with neck spasms and couldn’t figure out where they were coming from to rub it out, the next day was my appointment and she found a strange little muscle I would never have thought to rub in my shoulder area and within my 1½ hour session. As the pregnancy went on, I haven’t had that awful spasm.

She also has recently had the wonderful experience of having her own baby so she knows how you are feeling and what you are going through. She also has the greatest advice on stretches, relaxation techniques, and other things to help make your pregnancy smoother and more comfortable between visits. She helped my round ligament pain become bearable. I won’t lie, that didn’t go away, but I also didn’t follow instructions like I should have. I promise, not only is the time and money worth it every 2 or 3 weeks just for the “mommy relaxation time” it is so worth it for you and your baby’s health. Try it even once and you will understand what I mean. You actually feel amazing after and every pregnant mom needs that!!

The last nine months have been an amazing transition on my body and soul. Monica has been a nonstop asset and support; not only as a listener, but also as a massage therapist. She has an incredible sense of peace and gentleness that surrounds her, which makes you feel at ease even when you are at your most uncomfortable stage. Monica has also taken the time to research and educate herself on symptoms that I have been experiencing, so every session is unique to me and what my body needs at that time. The massages have become something that I cherish as me time and allow me to step away for a couple of hours. I truly look forward to every session knowing that it will be a wonderful experience. I cannot wait to continue my relationship with Monica postpartum and into future pregnancies.

I have been seeing Monica throughout the second half of my pregnancy and I could not have asked for more in a massage therapist. She sits down before the session and really listens to your physically needs and when needed, your emotionally needs as a mom-to-be. She has been a wonderful resource. During the massage itself, she has you lay on a table with pillows that hug every part of your body making you feel like you are floating on air. She does a wonderful job of concentrating on all the areas that you previously discussed using her amazing techniques and releases the pain. She does all this while still covering the whole body. It is pure heaven when I am there, making it so hard to get off the table and go home. I feel so lucky that I found her to help me with the aches and pains that come with pregnancy. I highly recommend seeing Monica if you are in need of some relief or you just want to pamper yourself as you grow your little one.
